Lindsey and Matthew chose to elope in stunning Crested Butte, Colorado (wildflower capital!!!). Crested Butte is already so magical but add in the wildflowers and it is truly one of the prettiest places in Colorado. Believe it or not this stunning view is just a short and easy hike from the parking lot! You will walk through fields of flowers the whole time, hearing bees buzzing around, and seeing the mountains towering in the distance. Lindsey wanted softer light for these photos so we waited until the sun was pretty far down, gently touching the tops of the mountains in the distance but creating a soft and natural light on the flower fields below. We were able to take a few photos during blue hour, when the sun was behind the mountain completely and we could see the sparkling lights of the city below. They read their vows to each other among the flowers, laughing and shedding some tears. We had this trail all to ourselves even in peak wildflower season, so if you are worried about privacy during your elopement day don’t worry, it is doable to find a beautiful and secluded place. There are tons of trails in the Crested Butte area that you can hike to find a beautiful view, but there are just as many easy and accessible trails that lead to beautiful views that don’t require you to sweat or hike for hours! I have a whole list of locations that I have been dying to shoot at and am always happy to share those with my couples once they decide to book with me.
Honored to have been a part of this elopement day with Lindsey and Matthew. From hearing their love story on the short hike to the location we started shooting, to laughing and joking throughout the shoot, to ending the shoot and seeing a wild herd of horses run directly in front of us and off into the distance as the sky turned pink, it was a truly magical day!
